This page was put here so I could share the purchase
of my Mackie system with those maybe interested in purchasing Mackie or other name brand products up here in the Northwoods.
To begin with yes Mackie Rocks! (But I ended
up with the faulty one) Where you buy your equipment could actually be as important if not more then the quality of equipment
purchased, such as what happens after the sale, if you do have problems like I did and now do.
Well have I a story to tell you!
Originally I purchased a Peavey system from Jerry's
Music of Wausau. The sale went fine no problems. (The equipment also ran fine). Well I've heard nothing
but good remarks about the new Mackie speakers and how light weight and easy to carry so I thought well why not. So
I went down to Jerry's Music and purchased 2 Mackie SRM450 speakers a Mackie DFX 12 mixing board, a Peavey 112PM monitor speaker
along with 3 new microphone cords and a new microphone for a total of aproximately $2080.00. So I traded in my other
system also purchased from Jerry's Music, and off I went (except for the monitor speaker that they said would be in, in three
weeks).
I'm in about week 2 of having my new system it was
a little rough not having my monitor speaker but I was patiently waiting, but that day when I turned my system on to do a
little practicing that I noticed the blue LED light was out on one speaker. Well I called the store and they said they
would have to order another one (light bulb) I wasnt happy but it wasnt the end of the world either. Well a couple
more weeks went by this puts us about 4 weeks after purchase, still no monitor, or LED light, after numerous calls
to the store all they would say is its on back order. Well almost 3 months have gone past guess what? My monitor
speaker is in well isn't that nice bought the system on July 30th its now almost October, most of my summer bookings are done
and work is almost nill but hey I have my monitor speaker, still no blue light. Another week passes and now I notice
that a channel on my mixing board doesn't work, never used it so Im assuming it was that way since I purchased it. I'm
like what the heck so I took the board in (to the Rhinelander store) they checked it out and replaced it. I also
explained the situation to them about my light and about the other store I and how I wasn't happy. 2-3 weeks after
that my light is in, I got a call from the Wausau store they ask me to bring my speaker down to the Wausau store, well
I live in Rhinelander and without snow tires I'm not driving to Wausau, well fine they say bring it to the Rhinelander store
we'll fix it there. I dropped it off the next day. I was kinda in a hurry so I told them I would pick it up the
following day, well guess what they ran into a problem and had to haul it down to the Wausau store no big deal I had it back
in time for my Saturday show. Well it's now 5 months into the sale I've had 1 month with all my equipment working,
and the worst thing happens oh ya.....
It's saturday night showtime and guess what no speaker,
no light, no sound, no nothing. Monday morning back down to Jerry's Music at this point the Rhinelander store
is all Im dealing with. Took the speaker in and worse case.... Its dead. So now with new bookings coming up, lots
of snow tourist, jobs I dont have my speaker, dont know if im getting a loaner dont know shit cause no one will return calls
when they say there going to. Had to break down and call the wausau store 2 days after taking it in because I
hadn't heard anything. Tim (the salesman that sold me the equipment) said he would talk to Dick and get back with me
about a loaner speaker that was on Thursday its Sunday good thing I had this weekend off. But thats not the case this
coming week I have to now go to work with 1 speaker. Do you know how embarrasing that is. Not as bad at places
I've already played at because they know what I have for a system, but now I've got new bookings coming my choices are say
NO or show up with 1 speaker and look like a IDIOT. Seem's to me something is definately wrong with this picture, yes
I realize it is not their fault that the equipment they sold me is faulty (or is it?) But shouldn't they replace the
faulty speaker with a new one? Well I'm a wreck I'll Keep ya posted wish me luck! I NEED IT
So now were to May 22nd, 2005 did a show for a wedding, not just the reception
but also the ceremony. And here goes the speaker again, couldnt get the voice of the singer to come out. Im speechless,
far as appropriate language! So its back to Jerrys Music tomorrow.
